Handpresso at the MUCEM in MARSEILLES From October 26th 2016 to January 23rd 2017
Café in is the coming exhibition at the MUCEM in Marseilles. More than 1000m2 are dedicated to the history of coffee in the world with over 300 works of art, photos, items, prints, drawings, rare books, letters, audiovisual archives and unpublished texts.
The coffee world is divided into 5 sections:
- A legend of humanity
- A history of cities
- A quality issue
- Market logics
- A moment of sharing.
According to Jean-Michel Djian, the exhibition’s officer: "Nowadays, our ideas around coffee are totally rooted in people’s individual and collective well-being. Therefore, after having been praised for its curative value, coffee has now with taste and sharing to do.
From the plant to the cup, the exhibition shows the history, geography, economy, environment, consumption, advertising and aesthetics of coffee within a large world of its own. The show focuses ultimately on converting the visitor/coffee consumer into the viewer of a story, which he did not know but ends up finding familiar.
With its portable espresso machine, Handpresso gives consumers the freedom to enjoy their coffee where and when they wish. The espresso break in a well-chosen location is all the more successful as it is shared. And it is namely the section called "A moment of sharing" at the MUCEM, which features the Handpresso Pump Set. It is a bag with an insulated bottle that keeps water at 90°C for 3-4 hours and enables to make 5 espressos. It also includes the manual espresso machine itself (Handpresso Pump) and 4 unbreakable espresso cups to ensure a friendly experience.
The espresso machines all have stylish looks of their own. The machines are functional as well as design objects, which you love to use and show. Thus, there are several reasons why Handpresso has its place in the exhibition!
