WARRANTY, REPAIR

How long is the guarantee of my machine?

All our machines are covered by a 2 years warranty. See our general terms and conditions for application.

The 2-year legal guarantee applies to the contract with Handpresso. It covers products bought anywhere in the EU.

The warranty also applies for products sold by Handpresso outside the EU, however, the shipping cost for sending the product to our repair center in France is borne by the customer.

My machine doesn’t work and is still under warranty, what shall I do?

What type of pods shall I use with the Handpresso machines?

The Handpresso machines use E.S.E. and compatible pods (Easy Serving Espresso) also called hard pods for coffee machines.

They are 44mm wide.

They are easily recognizable thanks to the logo below.

Where can I find E.S.E. pods?

These pods are to be found in the coffee section in hypermarkets, at your coffee roaster’s, in the internet. More than a hundred coffee roasters make pods meeting E.S.E. requirements. Discover new tastes, new origins, new varieties. Being packed individually, these pods keep their aroma much longer!

What type of pods shall I use with the Handcoffee machines?

The Handcoffee machines use Senseo® compatible pods also called soft coffee pads for coffee machines. They are widely available in most european countries They exist in a variety of flavours. 

They are 80mm wide.

Only simple pods can be used with the Handcoffee machines.

What type of ground coffee shall I use with the Handpresso machines?

The ground coffee has to be espresso coffee with a much finer grind than other standard ground coffees. Fill coffee in the ground coffee adapter and tamp with the tamper. Fill again till the Domepod is full.

Common maintenance of my Handpresso Pump

In order to ensure perfect operation, make sure you regularly oil your machine. Pour a few drops of cooking oil on the shaft of the pump and pump a few times to oil the O-rings which are inside. This maintenance is also to be done on the infusion button in order to prevent it from becoming too hard to use. To descale the water reservoir of your machine, fil lit with white vinegar and rinse under running water many times. To clean the portafilter of your machine, rinse it simply under running water.

My machine is hard to pump

I have lost the O-ring of my pod holder, how can I find a new one?

In the Instructions of your Handpresso Pump, there is a spare O-ring. If you have lost it or already used it, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, please contact first of all the retailer in your country.

COFFEE RESULT

My coffee is brewed too quickly

- Use of the Handpresso Pump ESE or Handpresso Pump in pod version Check that the pod used is an E.S.E. standard pod. Beware not to soften the pod by handling it. Some roaster’s pods are not tamped in the same way, in order to make a reference test, try to make a coffee with a pod with the E.S.E. logo. If after having used the right pod, your coffee is still brewed too quickly, we recommend to use an « Intense portafilter », which slows down the extraction of the coffee. Handpresso Pump intense

- Use of the Handpresso Pump ground coffee or Handpresso Pump in ground coffee version The ground coffee has to be espresso coffee, with finer grinds than standard ground coffee. The coffee has to be tamped in the ground coffee adapter, use the tamper in order to do so. Handpresso tamper It is recommended to fill and tamp the coffee several times in the ground coffee adapter so the coffee reaches the border of the ground coffee adapter. If after having used the right grind and tamped the coffee properly, the coffee is still brewed too quickly, we advise you to use an « Intense portafilter », which slows down the extraction of the coffee. My coffee is brewed too slowly

- Use of the Handpresso Pump ESE or Handpresso Pump in pod version

Your pod must have been damp, which slows down the extraction of the coffee. To avoid the problem, we recommend to pump up to 16 bars, add hot water and place the pod at the end. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service.

- Use of the Handpresso Pump ground coffee or Handpresso Pump in ground coffee version

You may have tamped the ground coffee too hard in the ground coffee adapter, give another try by tamping it a bit less. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, contact first of all the retailer in your country.

The Handpresso Auto machines heat the water like a kettle, thus the maintenance of the machine is similar to that of your kettle. Pour white vinegar instead of water in the reservoir of the machine and start the cycle to descale then rinse many times under running water to remove the taste of vinegar. Descale the machine regularly (every 2nd month or every 100 coffees) in order to increase its performance and life.

Make sure not to have poured too much water in the reservoir, it may dampen the pod. Use the water level indicators, stop pouring water as soon as the last but one indicator turns black. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, contact first of all the retailer in your country.

My coffee is brewed too quickly

Make sure that you are using hard E.S.E. pods and not souple pods. Try with a pod with the E.S.E. logo to make a reference test. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. My coffee is cold

Have you heard the 3 bleeps at the end of the cycle ? You can hear them approx. 2min30 after having started the machine. Start the engine of your car. Once the engine is running, the battery has more power and can heat Handpresso Auto machine more rapidly. Our machines are fitted with a safety device, they automatically turn off after 3mn40. If the power of your battery is low, the machine will stop after 3mn40 even though the water is not warm enough. Do not hesitate to restart the machine a second time, after that the coffee will be at the right temperature. Do not worry if the pressure does not increase during the second cycle. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. I’d like a larger coffee, can I pour more water in the machine?

By pouring more water than necessary (ie 50 ml), the machine will have defects (spills, leakage leading to electronic fault). You have to stop pouring when the last but one water level indicator turns black.

Technical problems

My machine does not work in the car

Remember to turn on the engine of your car. Our machines are fitted with a safety device and do not start if the voltage or the power is not sufficient. Do not use cigarette lighter power strips. Check the light of the cigarette lighter plug of your machine. If it does not light up: make sure that the cigarette lighter plug is well plugged in the cigarette lighter plug of your car. Make sure that the cigarette lighter plug of your car is working with another device. Check the value of the fuse of the cigarette lighter plug of your car. It has to be at least a « 15A » fuse. If you have a fuse of a lower value, ask your mechanic or dealer in order to know if you can increase the value of the fuse without any risk. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. My machine is leaking through the yellow ring during the heating and/ or there are big projections when I press the STOP

You may have poured too much water in the machine! Watch the water level indicators carefully. You have to stop pouring when the last but one water level indicator turns black. Check that the flap of the pod is folded back up. Check that you have not lost the O-ring around the pod holder. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, please contact first of all the retailer in your country;

I cannot open the portafilter

Handpresso Auto works at a pressure of 16 bars. In order to avoid injuries or damage to the product due to the pressure, a safety device prevents you from handling the portafilter if the Espresso button is in the right position. A safety ring tells you when the machine is under pressure. You cannot open the machine if the safety ring is visible. Press the STOP button till the end so the safety ring disappears. As the machine is no longer under pressure, you can open the portafilter. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, contact first of all the retailer in your country .

I cannot close the portafilter

A safety device prevents you from handling the portafilter if the Espresso button is not in the right position. See if the safety ring is visible. If it’s not the case, press the STOP button till the end. Place the portafilter and close it up to the locking indicator. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, contact first of all the retailer in your country.

I cannot press the Espresso button

Handpresso Auto is fitted with a safety device blocking the use of the Espresso button if the machine is not turned over. Make sure that the portafilter is tighly closed up to the locking indicator. Flip the machine around, portafilter above the cup and press the Espresso button. If your machine still does not work after these checks, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. MAINTENANCE & TIPS

Common maintenance of my Handpresso Auto capsule machine

Descale the machine regularly (every 2nd month or every 100 coffees) in order to increase its performance and life. In order to descale your Handpresso Auto Capsule, use an adequate product. Read the instructions on the descaling product for the right dose and duration. Rinse 5 or 6 times with water.

Make sure to clean the grill regularly.

Do not use extension cords nor power strips.

Never start a cycle without water.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

The water level indicator does not work despite a correct filling.

Very low water minerality can alter the functioning of the water level reading system. Do not use demineralised water. We advise you to use water with a dry residue higher than 50mg /L.

The machine does not start

a) Make sure that the cigarette lighter plug is well plugged-in. The plug and the display of the machine are lit up when they are properly connected.

b) Check that the cigarette lighter of you car is powered. The machine uses lots of power, so it is recommended to start the engine of the car to use the Handpresso Auto Capsule.

The Handcoffee Auto machines heat the water like a kettle, thus the maintenance of the machine is similar to that of your kettle. Filing the Handcoffee Auto

Be sure to pour water very gently. For an 80ml coffee, stop when the indicator on the left turns black; for a 110ml coffee continue to pour until the 2 indicators on the right turn black.

Do not use extension cords or power strips.

Never start a cycle without water.

Be careful not to unplug your machine when flipping it around and pouring your coffee.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

My machine does not start when I press the cup button

If you do not press the cup button immediately after the end of the cycle and the last blip, a safety device will be activated. To disactivate it and restart the cycle, press the ON button again.

My machine is leaking when I flip it around

If water leaks around the portafilter when flipping your machine, check that you have not lost the black O-ring around the pod holder. If you have lost it, please contact Handpresso’s customer service. If you have bought your machine outside of France, please contact the retailer in your country first.
